A major exhibition of Le French May 2015 on the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres,
from its origins to the present, will be presented at the University Museum and Art
Gallery (UMAG) of the University of Hong Kong from June 10 to August 16, 2015.
Organised by Pierre Dumonteil, together with the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres
and UMAG, the exhibition will invite visitors to discover the extraordinary quality of
the porcelain production of the Manufactory as well as the sophistication of its
traditional craftsmanship. Since the 18th century, this quest for perfection in ceramics
manufacture has seduced as prestigious as the Emperor of China; even today their
meticulousness is still the absolute requirement which guides the choices of its artists
and contemporary works.
With more than 120 pieces, the exhibition will lead us through a discovery of the
remarkable know-how of the Sèvres Manufactory over more than three centuries.
