Programme Description

Across languages and cultures, Music Jams demonstrates the real ability of music to break the boundaries. Engross yourself in these exceptional music performances to appreciate how different artists express their lives and emotions through music.

 

Percussion – Rossini X Four Gig Heads

How can plastic pipes bring Italian composer Gioacchino Rossini's William Tell Overture to perfection? Can lighters and coffee mugs be used as musical instruments? Sophine Lee and Fung Kei Wah, two students of the Hong Kong Red Cross John F. Kennedy Centre, will perform with percussion group Made in Hong Kong@Four Gig Heads in a brisk and fascinating performance that rediscovers the origins of life and music.

Classical Music – Trio for Piano, Violin and Saxophone

Who says classical music is unapproachable and highbrow? How about seeing it yourself the trio performance of Lee Shing's expressive charm on piano, Tang Cheuk Him's surpassing pursuit of perfection with violin, and Thai saxophonist Yongsit Yongkamol’s sweet and affectionate melody. You will definitely gain a new perception of classical music!

Folk Pop Songs – Music Views

Hong Kong Spirit Ambassador Siu Hoi Yan will play piano and sing with two guitarists Wilson Yung and Chet Lam in a trio performance that gives you wings to fly over the landscape of memory. Ready to go? Enjoy a pleasing and relaxing journey of music!

Dance – Cheering Them Up

Life is capricious, offering a myriad of possibilities. Liao Zhi lost her legs in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. In an amazing dance to cheer up victims of the disaster, Liao will perform on a 1.8− meter giant drum. Choreographed by Yang Yuntao*, Acting Artistic Director of the Hong Kong Dance Company, five local dancers will join Liao to create a unique performance which is a premiere for Hong Kong audience!
