Event Category : ADAHK Programmes、Visual Arts、Workshops

Overseas Trainer: Celia Hughes

Celia Hughes
Executive Director, VSA Texas; Co-founder, Audio Description Coalition

This interactive workshop allows participants to discover the essential knowledge and skills that apply to the verbal description of visual art and museum exhibits. Working in small groups, you will learn the practical application of these core skills through participatory exercises, lectures and demonstrations. Based on the Audio Description Coalition’s training curriculum developed in 2011 by an international committee of professionals, this training is structured to accommodate describers at all levels of expertise--from beginners who have never tried audio description to experienced describers who want to expand their existing skills. Tactile tours and auditory cues will also be discussed as an addition to audio description tours.

Audio description is a powerful tool for making visual information accessible to people who are blind or have low vision, and understanding the principles and techniques of audio description helps describers, curators, museum staff and artists provide visual information in a more accessible way.
