Describer and Audio Description Trainer:
New York, NY and San Francisco, CA

Audio description for live performances is a prepared, objective narration of the visual aspects on stage. It uses the natural pauses in the dialogue or narration to insert descriptions of the visual elements that are essential to the story – elements that convey meaning or insight into the story line, characters’ development, and character relationships. The actions on stage, characters’ appearance & body language, costumes, sets, lighting, and any visual effects unique to the theatre experience are included, as time permits. Audio description is presented through a wireless earphone in a concise and timely manner to ensure that people who are blind or have low vision enjoy equal access to the performance.
