‘ARTivating Public Buildings’ is a public art project which transforms government buildings into art spaces. Local artists are invited to tailor-make artworks for the government buildings, so as to infuse art into our everyday lives, to give the public greater opportunities to access art in our hectic daily lives and to offer the public a new experience during their visits.
Apart from playing sports, borrowing books, going to markets and dancing in the following four government buildings, you can view the exciting site-specific and community-related artworks by the four groups of artists for a year since this July.
Li Tin-lun listens to the sound of Tuen Mun and its community, and transforms the recorded sound into visible 'soundscape' to reflect people's lives. Tang Kwok-hin creates a series of works with the theme of "treasure hunt" to narrate an imaginary story about Stanley and the sea. thecaveworkshop observes Tung Chung and reconnects people and the environment by creating a public space design. Jino Yeung visits Tai Kok Tsui and illustrates the nostalgic neighbourhood on a three-dimensional cityscape. Don't hesitate to experience these artworks if you are interested!
